New Teacher Tips – How Teachers Can Use Educational Technology Successfully

Educator, trainer and speaker, says Thomas Crawford of educational technology and how new and experienced teachers can use it effectively in their classrooms.

Dorit:

Hi Thomas, I would like to thank you for taking the time to participate in this interview. You return to the conference blog in Seattle. Can our readers a brief lecture on some new insights into educational technology for new and experienced teachers to go? The conference was the T + L (Technology and Advanced Learning) event of the NSBA.

Thomas:

Schools are moving very quickly in the 21 Century. T + L conference allows the National Association of School Boards (NSBA) is sponsored teachers, administrators and school administration have access to the latest technologies and revealing to them. It is more than just a supplier. This is an opportunity to share and discuss innovations in information technology through round tables and forums.

Dorit:

What advice can you give new and experienced teachers who are just starting, with interest in the use of educational technology show, but not 100% comfortable using it feel?

Thomas:

Teachers have technology at which they learn and not afraid of her, things much easier. We tell our students that practice makes perfect. It’s the same for us. I always tell teachers to ask for help when they need it.

Teachers must spend time getting to know all the resources to online learning or computer program before implementing them in their classrooms. Therefore, ask questions and practical is the key to adapt to any new form of technology education. Start small and use your colleagues as resources

Dorit:

Teaching in many schools, I see dusty white boards and teachers are simply not using them. Can you explain why that is? What are the alternatives?

Thomas:

Whiteboards are often used incorrectly. You are not maximizing a very expensive display device and its potential. In addition, losing a lot of commitment and whiteboard interactivity of the students, because the placement of the plaque. In many elementary classrooms, it is often too high and out of reach of children. As a result, students are under no obligation and discipline problems can occur. There are inexpensive ways to address this problem by using a projector, wireless slate address. In this way the teacher can move around the classroom and still maintain a degree of interactive control.

Dorit:

They have spent time in London and with some of the online educational resources. What are your comments and suggestions on how teachers use educational technology? How can teachers better understand U.S. information technology in the classroom?

Thomas:

I worked in an elementary school in London. Teachers love to share and they like things that are free or inexpensive. In Great Britain there is a wealth of resources for teachers created web-based, which are readily available. The government has even set up free web resource for teachers. Teacher uses more resources, more confident that they are establishing themselves. Here in the United States, the teachers with various resources around the world to experiment to better understand how the Internet and its resources are used effectively in our own classes. We can learn a lot form that international organizations such as ISTE and BECTA (British Communications and Technology Agency for Education) have to offer.

Dorit:

What makes a successful instructional design in terms of its ability to engage the learners?

Thomas:

A successful design education, which has addressed all the needs of students and a multi-sensory approach. I mean, it is a highly interactive Web activities, audio-video components, at least, and it is also easy to follow, understand and navigate.

Dorit:

Please share with our teachers, the functionality of your site and how teachers can differentiate their lessons, learn the English language, group lessons (ELL) and the work needs to be with students with special needs. What makes it friendly and accessible for all teachers?

Thomas:
